ABOUT THE CHEF

Raised in Los Angeles, chef Alexis always loved food. As a child you could find her watching cooking shows, writing down the recipes & then trying to cook the meal for dinner. As the oldest to a single mother cooking became apart of her chores & she loved it!
In high school Alexis participated in cooking competitions through C-CAP (Careers through Culinary Arts Program) earning a scholarship to Johnson & Wales University in Miami. There she learned the technical side of cooking & tasted the tropical flavors of Miami.
Eager to gain knowledge in the culinary field Alexis worked two internships. Her first internship was at the Hilton Resort in Destin, FL where she worked with fresh seafood. Cooking for room service, the main restaurant & special seafood buffets on the weekend. Here the Executive chef allowed her creative juices to flow. Alexis created daily & weekly specials that went over well in the dining room. Here, Alexis realized she loved creating her own dishes & was beginning to gain her culinary point of view. The second internship was at Disney World, in a fine dining restaurant called Artist Point, where she worked with game meats such as venison, rabbit & buffalo. Here, Alexis learned the importance of fresh ingredients cooked simply, allowing the game meats to shine. She loved the subtle approach & attention to detail that was taught by the Executive chef.
After college Alexis moved back to Los Angeles where she worked for a popular catering company called Jennie Cooks Catering, which catered to the entertainment and movie industry. Here she learned to love catering & moved up quickly. Still exploring catering she worked for a kosher catering company called Warren Works Catering where she learned the technical & religious details of cooking gourmet kosher food.
While Alexis was still working for other catering companies she catered her own events as well, using her fellow chefs & friends as staff, borrowing equipment & shopping for all her own products. Alexis catered her first big event, a wedding for 200 people with 3 staff members. The event was a success! This gave her the confidence to now seek out clients.
Today Chef Alexis’ cooking style infuses Miami’s bold flavors, California’s Farmer’s market driven cuisine, Mediterranean flavors & Asian influences.
Alexis strives to put the client first & has her hands in every part of the business to ensure that the quality of food, ambiance, presentation & service are nothing less than So Divine.

So Divine Catering is a full service boutique catering company providing service to the Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura County & surrounding areas since 2005.
We specialize in creating delicious, diverse menus that are artfully presented.
Our mission is to dedicate personal attention to each client while passionately creating a new approach to world fusion cuisine.
What is world Fusion cuisine? It’s everything! We believe in tasting & celebrating all of the Divinely Delicious flavors from all over the world.
We know that each event & client are uniquely different which is why we strive to make our events feel like an extension of the host or hostess. No detail is too big or small for us to handle from arranging rental items through our preferred vendors to creating the layout and overall ambiance of your event. We gladly take on the task!
